- Icebergs make visit to Grise Fiord a challenge
For many on board Canadian patrol frigate HMCS Montréal, it was one of those days when the recruiting centre promises of excitement, adventure and travel really rang true. On August 20, 2010 the ship took a break from its at-sea commitments to Operation NANOOK 10 in the high Arctic and paid a day-long visit to the hamlet of Grise Fiord, Nunavut.
- Operation Nanook 09
A CH 124 Sea King helicopter hoists down Commander A.C. Grant, commanding officer of HMCS Toronto, onto the flight deck. HMCS Toronto was taking part in vital sovereignty patrols near Frobisher Bay off the coast of Baffin Island as a participant in Operation NANOOK 09.
- Operation Nanook wraps up in the Eastern Arctic
Operation Nanook, the Canadian Forces’ largest annual Arctic sovereignty operation, wrapped up on Aug. 26, 2008. The exercise, which took place in the Eastern Arctic for eight days, included many of the Canadian Forces’ civil and law enforcement partners in the North.
- Operation NANOOK 07
Approximately 600 Canadian Forces members, Canadian Coast Guard personnel and RCMP members recently participated in Operation NANOOK 07.
