TRIDENT FURY Well Underway in HMCS OTTAWA

The upcoming week will see OTTAWA’s participation in the ongoing national-level exercise known as JOINTEX 13. This exercise takes place from 1 May to 8 June and involves various land air and naval assets in littoral operations with the objective of achieving a joint, integrated, agile, and ready force.
The mood in OTTAWA continues to be positive as the crew prepares to embark Canadian Army troops later in the week:
“I’m looking forward to it” says PO2 Adam Callaghan, OTTAWA’s Electronic Warfare Supervisor and Regulating Petty Officer (RPO).
“Exercises like this increase our knowledge base and create opportunities to develop our tactics for various operations. As the RPO it’s especially challenging when we embark personnel from another element, but we’re excited to have them on board and I know the crew will make them feel welcome.”
While few know what’s ahead for OTTAWA and the Van Doos about to embark, the unique mix of personnel, equipment and exercises will certainly keep everyone on their toes as the exercise continues to unfold.
