Thank you for your service. Merry Christmas HMCS Ottawa III (DDH 229) was my first ship ... as a Sea Cadet, in 1968. By early-1969 I was posted to HMCS Kootenay and became a survivor of the so-called Kootenay tragedy that October. Despite that, my Navy days were the best of times and hold the fondest memories. I was the Doc onboard DDH 229 from 79 to 81. My time in Ottawa gave me some of the best memories I have of my time in the Navy. The ships company became an extention of my family and I miss the times we had together. I hope you have the same feelings about your shipmates. Thanks for your service.
